With that in mind, at WoW Sun Tours, we have created the ultimate handheld guided group tours of what we consider to be the most quintessential and diverse region of La Bella Italia, Tuscany. From ancient cultural and historical jewels, to charming medieval towns with beguiling piazzas, rolling landscapes of cypress and sunflowers, dark and inviting cantine maturing heady wine selections, you’ll also be ooing and aahing over fresh olive oil, cured hams, juicy pastas, succulent steaks, brightly coloured fruit, vegetables and truffles, a food heaven that will have you living like a local in no time at all.  Combine all this with the ebullience and love of good living of your average Italian, and you have a recipe for an unforgettable Italian Odyssey, created specifically for the solo woman traveller, who wants to go it alone, but still yearns to be part of a fun group dynamic.

From the moment you sign up for any of our Solo Tuscan Ladies Holidays, you’ll be part of something truly special. As both your hosts and guides, our duty is to ensure that absolutely every detail of your holiday is taken care of, so that your solo experience is effortless and relaxed. A couple of weeks prior to your departure, our dedicated WhatsApp groups allow you to get to know your fellow Tuscan gals. You can break the ice, exchange banter, share ‘what to bring’ queries and travel plans. By the time you hop aboard your private transfer to your welcoming accommodation in Camucia, Cortona, you’ll realise that you aren’t in any way ‘on your own’, but you’re already part of a blossoming group of Tuscan Totties, your friends for the week, and fingers crossed, you’ll have found a new set of travelling buddies.

We at WoW offer two distinct yet overlapping types of holiday.  Both could be considered ‘multi active’ - offering tasters of the many facets very best of local Tuscan living, from wine tasting to cookery to hidden forest thermal baths. These we celebrate in our Live Like a Local Week, where we’ll have you waltzing at local village festivals, learning the local dialect, picking up typical recipes and cocktails and trying them out, or hand gesturing with true Italian gusto within a matter of days.

Our second type of holiday has as its springboard a Classic Italian Travel book, such as A Room With A View, Extra Virgin or Frances Mayes' bible on the city of Cortona, Under the Tuscan Sun. We call it WoWSunTours Tuscan Book Club Adventure. Whilst these weeks still aim to cover all the same aspects of culture, food and wine, fashion, history and nature, they are centred round the plot and settings of one of these eternal classics so that, by the end of the week,  you feel like one of the main characters.

 

Tuscany and La Valdichiana especially, where WoW is based, is known for its breath-taking landscapes, world known art, ‘il buon vino’ and la ‘cucina Contadina (farmer’s cuisine). No land is more caught up with the products of its rich earth than Tuscany, a destination for the ‘bon vivants’, whose residents spend an unnecessary amount of time thinking about, discussing and consuming food, wine and of course, coffee. Wherever you go, whether it’s the local cafe, the hairdressers, the post office, even the gym, the main conversation will be about what la famous ‘nonna’ is making for Sunday lunch- at which point a lot of oohs and aaahs will follow and the competition of who’s grandma makes the best homemade pasta will inevitably begin.

Laden with rustic villages, ancient Etruscan settlements and enchanting mazes of stone and marble, this region has to be one of the most beautiful in all of Italy. This, of course, is where we come in. Forget the usual tourist trail of Florence, Siena and Montalcino – Tuscany has far more up its sleeve than just the statue of David or Piazza del Campo.
