There is no shortage of dreamy novels chronicling the southern European lifestyle. Hushed tones of wistfulness are reserved for Zorba the Greek or La Dolce Vita, or E.M Forster’s romantic Italian masterpiece A Room With A View.

Mostly though, we seem fascinated by those impossibly beguiling stories of expats who’ve dared to escape to a more idyllic life, and who record their real experiences of home restoration, learning to blend in and Live Like A Local, and their fumbling first stabs at the language.  Whilst Peter Mayle started the true trend, in his Southern French epic A Year in Provence, there is equally a swathe of enchanting stories about those who have chosen to break free from the humdrum of life in search of a Tuscan Dream.  Extra Virgin, The Land Where Lemons Grow, A Valley in Italy, and most famously, Frances Mayes’ Under the Tuscan Sun, all celebrate the simple beauty of Italian Living, where the changing seasons still dictate the pace and style of life.

But here's the exciting part: you can be more than just a reader or a viewer; you can be a participant. Imagine joining a Ladies Only Book Club in the heart of Tuscany, where you can visit some of the very sites described in the hallowed pages of these books. Picture yourself sipping a glass of local wine under the same golden sun, strolling through the very piazze where characters once roamed, and savouring dishes made from sun-ripened tomatoes and freshly pressed olive oil. The WoWSunTours Book Club Experience

From the peace of your charming private accommodation, each week will bring together a group of up to 8 women, focusing on a novel that has, at its background, the classic backdrop of the Tuscan Countryside At some point in the day, depending on our planned daily itinerary, which will be devised from the novel you’ll be reading, there’ll be a light hearted discussion of the latest developments in the text.

Don’t worry if you haven’t read the text, we’ll be sending you your own copy of our chosen novel a few weeks before so that you arrive fully versed!

​

Please don’t expect a high-brow or scholarly commentary; we are simply hoping to replicate the relaxed vibe of your average Book Club, perhaps over a glass or two, possibly round the swimming pool, or under the cool  shade of the burgeoning fruit trees or silvery olives. We’ll also throw in a few useful Italian lessons, phrases and fun facts too, just for good measure, that you can use on your Tuscan Odyssey, just so that you blend in and live like a true local.
